Peppermint Patty soap has a minty scent that opens the airways, invigorates the senses, and soothes sore muscles. The menthol in peppermint oil activates your skin’s thermoreceptors, creating a cooling sensation that might sometimes be accompanied by a slight tingling or prickling. This is a normal response, as menthol interacts directly with the skin’s temperature receptors, producing a cooling feeling without changing the skin’s temperature. It is also known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, which help in treating athlete’s foot. Aromatherapists use it to help people with anxiety and stress because peppermint oil energizes the mind and senses.
Soaps, Creams & Things do not use dyes or synthetics. Instead, we use organic cacao powder for its bold, rich brown color and lower acidity level, with a pH of 5-6. Since cacao powder has a more balanced acidity that is closer to our skin’s natural pH level, it helps reduce dryness and may help prevent acne and eczema. Rather than use synthetic peppermint oil fragrance, we use natural organic peppermint essential oil. Our soap products take about six to eight weeks to cure, allowing water to evaporate and create a harder soap bar that lasts longer and remains mild. During curing, the soap’s three-dimensional crystalline structure fully develops, affecting its strength, conductivity, and optical properties. This means that when light hits the soap bubbles, they display rainbow colors as light reflects from their front and back surfaces.
Fresh & Natural Ingredients
Size: 4oz / 113g
Ingredients:
coconut, olive, castor, almond, & grapeseed oils, peppermint essential oil, organic cacao powder, kaolin clay, distilled water
- Coconut, olive, almond, grapeseed, and castor oils are super oils that protect against the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays, retain a glow, tighten skin, and treat acne. These super oils create a creamy lather containing vitamins A, B, E, and K. Kaolin clay is the oldest clay used in many personal hygiene products. It is gentle and stimulates circulation to the application area without over-drying.
- Peppermint organic essential oil is a cooling and refreshing oil that has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties. It exfoliates, improves circulation, and can also help as an insect repellent.
- Cacao in our soap is rich in dark color, adding an accent. It is the unprocessed form, less processed than cocoa. Cacao has a higher mineral and antioxidant content, preserving more of its natural magnesium and iron. It also has lower acidity, which enhances its solubility and intensifies its color. Additionally, cacao powder tightens the skin and promotes the growth of new skin cells.
- Food-grade USP sodium hydroxide is a strong alkaline compound used to saponify soap. It is also used in food processing, such as curing olives and making toothpaste, as well as giving shine to German Bagels. This same lye turns oils into soap. When an acid and a base (oil/fat) combine, they neutralize each other and make a salt called “Soap.”
- Distilled water is purified to remove minerals and metals that can contaminate soap, developing what is known as “soap scrum”. This is what leads to ineffectiveness and a shorter shelf life. Using distilled water is a better ingredient when purity, consistency, and control over variables are important.
The healthiest soap to use is usually a natural soap that doesn’t contain harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, or irritants. Choosing soaps with moisturizing ingredients, such as olive oil, coconut oil, or goat’s milk, is especially beneficial for dry skin because hydration is achieved through the process of hygroscopicity, which involves drawing and retaining moisture from the environment, thereby increasing hydration.
