Sea Breeze Brine Soap is a distinctive and invigorating soap bar of sea salt, featuring a blend of four essential oils. Unlike table salt, grey salt provides oceanic salt minerals—such as magnesium, potassium, iodine, calcium, and zinc—to be absorbed through our skin.

This is why it’s essential to use high-quality salt, such as Sel Gris imported from Guérande, France. A grey, unrefined salt harvested from the medieval French coastal town of Guérande Peninsula, southwest of Paris. Guérande, a town renowned for its art and history, is famous for its well-preserved salt marshes, which are rich in algae, giving the salt its distinctive grey color. The salt marshes are maintained by salt workers known as ‘paludiers’ to ensure they are protected and preserved for economic and biodiversity reasons. These marshes are so highly valued that they have been granted a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status by the European Union, which guarantees the salt’s origin and quality and ensures the traditional production methods are maintained. Additionally, international designations such as the Ramsar Convention (for wetlands of international importance) and Natura 2000 (for protecting valuable habitats and species) have been granted protection and are subject to international agreements.

To give the brine soap an accent, we've used Mallotus Philippensis herb powder, also known as Kamala or Monkey Face powder, which is mainly found in India. Kamala is a flowering tree whose fruit is used in traditional medicine. It is used as a remedy for skin issues like scabies or ringworm, as well as for dandruff, and acts as a natural conditioner for the hair. Its golden-brown color gives our soaps a clean, attractive look.

The idea of using an ingredient like salt in soap-making is unknown. However, it is highly possible that the concept of making brine soap originated in Ancient Egypt and later spread to Germany, as it is well-documented that Egyptians, such as Cleopatra, used mud from the Dead Sea as a beauty aid. This would explain the German name "Soleseife" for brine soap.

In summary, our soaps are suitable for everyone. They provide essential cleaning and protection. Each bar of soap is a powerful blend that cleanses, safeguards, and maintains your skin's balance and hydration. It disinfects pores, helps fight acne, and improves conditions related to psoriasis and eczema. Some believe that sea salt has a higher concentration of sodium chloride, which can irritate the skin. While sodium chloride can be an irritant, Sel Gris does not contain the synthetic sodium chloride, NaCl, because it isn't commercial table salt. Sel Gris is entirely natural, and its sodium chloride is not synthetic. Generally, the healthiest soap to use is one that is natural and free from harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and potential irritants.

Benefits of Fresh & Natural Ingredients

Size: 4oz / 113g

Natural Ingredients:

Unrefined Sel Gris (sea salt, coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil, castor oil, mallotus philippensis powder herb (aka monkey face), essential oil blend, distilled water, food-grade sodium hydroxide

Coconut, olive, almond, grapeseed, and castor oils are powerful oils that protect against the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays, help maintain a glow, tighten skin, and treat acne. These oils create a creamy lather rich in vitamins A, B, E, and K. Kaolin clay is the oldest type of clay used in many personal hygiene products. It is gentle and promotes circulation to the area of application without over-drying.

Food-grade USP sodium hydroxide is a strong alkaline compound used to saponify soap. It is also used in food processing, such as curing olives and making toothpaste, as well as giving shine to German Bagels. This same lye turns oils into soap. When an acid and a base (oil/fat) combine, they neutralize each other and make a salt called “Soap.”

Mallotus Philippensis, also known as Kamala or Monkey Face herb, is an herb powder from India that provides Sea Breeze its accent color. It’s a flowering tree whose fruit serves as a remedy for skin issues such as scabies or ringworms, as well as for dandruff, and acts as a natural conditioner for hair. It’s refreshing to know that many people use contact lenses, which can create bacteria. Sea Breeze Brine Soap bars work wonders when your eyes need a little rinsing, as Mallotus Philippensis is a treatment for parasites that live on our skin. Industrial uses include dyes and varnish, as the golden-red powder is used to color silk and wool, and is a component in rapid-drying paints and varnishes.

Essential oil blends create a powerful synergy when combined, rather than as a single oil. Singular essential oils are one-dimensional. However, when essential oils are blended, their healing effects work together, resulting in a more potent impact and promoting synergy among the oils, which provides significant healing and therapeutic benefits. In this salt bar soap, the four essential oils used are bergamot, eucalyptus, lemon, and lavender. This blend combines top, middle, and bottom notes, creating a harmonious array of benefits.
