Sea Breeze Brine Soap is a unique and revitalizing soap bar that contains grey sea salt, also known as Sel Gris. This high-quality salt is imported from Guérande, France, located southwest of Paris, renowned for its art and history. The salt marshes are particularly well-preserved and rich in algae, which gives the salt its distinctive grey color. Unlike regular table salt, grey salt primarily contains oceanic minerals such as magnesium, potassium, iodine, calcium, and zinc. These minerals benefit the skin and are absorbed through the pores. Salt workers maintain the salt marshes, helping to protect and preserve the ecosystem for both economic and biodiversity reasons. These marshes are highly valued and have been awarded a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status by the European Union, ensuring the salt’s origin, quality, and traditional production methods are maintained. Additionally, international designations such as the Ramsar Convention (for wetlands of international importance) and Natura 2000 (which safeguards valuable habitats and species) are also in place.
Sel Gris disinfects pores, helps fight acne, and improves conditions related to psoriasis and eczema. Some believe that sea salt has a higher concentration of sodium chloride, which can irritate the skin. While sodium chloride can be an irritant, Sel Gris does not contain the synthetic sodium chloride, NaCl, because it isn't commercial table salt. Sel Gris is entirely natural, and its sodium chloride is not synthetic. It adds gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, features mineral infusion, unclogs pores, and removes bacteria.
Added bonuses to Brine Soap:
- Maturing skin improves blood circulation, which helps the skin barrier function to maintain the skin’s natural pH, essential for a healthy skin barrier, as well as firming and toning the skin and reducing fine lines and wrinkles
- Detoxification is derived from White China clay and a blend of four essential oils that help draw out impurities from the skin, leaving a crystal-clear complexion.
- Irritations are soothed and healed with Sel Gris, which calms down inflammation and reduces redness in skin, as it’s also a skin balancing agent.
Fresh & Natural Ingredients:
Size: 4oz / 113g
Ingredients:
Unrefined Sel Gris, coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil, castor oil, mallotus philippensis powder herb (aka monkey face), essential oil blend, distilled water, food-grade sodium hydroxide
- Coconut, olive, almond, grapeseed, and castor oils are powerful oils that protect against the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays, help maintain a glow, tighten skin, and treat acne. These oils create a creamy lather rich in vitamins A, B, E, and K. Kaolin clay is the oldest type of clay used in many personal hygiene products. It is gentle an:d promotes circulation to the area of application without over-drying.
- Mallotus Philippensis, also known as Kamala, is an herb powder from India that provides Sea Breeze its accent color. It’s a flowering tree whose fruit serves as a remedy for skin issues such as scabies or ringworms, as well as for dandruff, and acts as a natural conditioner for hair. It’s refreshing to know that many people use contact lenses, which can create bacteria. Sea Breeze Brine Soap bars work wonders when your eyes need a little rinsing, as Mallotus Philippensis is a treatment for parasites that live on our skin. Industrial uses include dyes and varnish, as the golden-red powder is used to color silk and wool, and is a component in rapid-drying paints and varnishes.
- Essential oil blends create a powerful synergy when combined, rather than as a single oil. Singular essential oils are one-dimensional. However, when essential oils are blended, their healing effects work together, resulting in a more potent impact and promoting synergy among the oils, which provides significant healing and therapeutic benefits. In this salt bar soap, the four essential oils used are bergamot, eucalyptus, lemon, and lavender. This blend combines top, middle, and bottom notes, creating a harmonious array of benefits.
- Distilled water is purified to remove minerals and metals that can contaminate soap, developing what is known as “soap scrum”. This is what leads to ineffectiveness and a shorter shelf life. Using distilled water is a better ingredient when purity, consistency, and control over variables are important.
- Sodium hydroxide (Food-grade USP) is a strong alkaline compound used to saponify soap. It is also used in food processing, such as curing olives and making toothpaste, as well as giving shine to German Bagels. This same lye turns oils into soap. When an acid and a base (oil/fat) combine, they neutralize each other and make a salt called “Soap.”
The healthiest soap to use is usually a natural soap that doesn’t contain harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, or irritants. Choosing soaps with moisturizing ingredients is especially beneficial for dry skin because hydration is achieved through the process of hygroscopicity, which involves drawing and retaining moisture from the environment, thereby increasing hydration.
